Cheney School - GCSE results 2026
BackOur very positive trend of academic results continues this year (total absolute results were a shade above last year), and we are delighted that our lovely Year 11 students have got the right reward for their hard work. Once again, almost 30% of our grades were 7 or higher and almost 60% were at grade 5 or above, both of which put us clearly above the national average.
It’s not all about the grades; the most important thing is that our students have a good destination to go to, and these results allow that. Lots of our Year 11 students are successfully enrolled in our Sixth Form, and equal numbers have great courses arranged at College, or good apprenticeships to go to. We are as pleased with some of our children who have overcome serious health challenges to pass 5 GCSEs, as with our students who got straight Grade 9s.
Some statistics
-
7 students got grade 8 or 9 in all of their exams (and a further 2 had just 1 grade 7)
-
1 student (Johnny) got straight 10 grade 9s and an A in his additional maths qualification (there are on average only around 550 students in the whole country who achieve this).
-
17% of all grades were 8 or 9.
-
27.3% of all grades were 7 or above (last year it was 21.7% nationally).
-
62% of students scored 4 or above in both English and Maths.
