PSHE and Personal Development

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education at Cheney is divided into three core themes which are explored in each year group: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Sex Education, and Living in the Wider World.

The curriculum has been  developed in line with new government guidelines introduced in 2020, so it is contemporary, interesting and relevant. In each year group, students cover sex and relationships education; health and wellbeing; risk management and personal attributes and careers.

PSHE is covered once a week during tutor time. Additionally, all students in years 9 to 11 currently receive a personal development lesson once a fortnight in which they study a number of PSHE topics to prepare them for life outside of school.
