Last Tuesday 3rd December, year 8 girls got stuck into a fun practical session in the hall, designing and constructing a wheelbarrow in teams, with which they then had to race up and down the hall, carrying a cup of water. The team with the most water in the bucket at the end won!

This is part of a 12–18 month construction program tailored specifically for girls, designed and led by Laing O’Rourke, an international construction and engineering company. Over 5 sessions a female led team will explore various aspects across the project life cycle, with a practical element in each.

Students are excited for the next session, where they will get to go on a site visit and have an introduction to digitial. Students can look forward to a design workshop and a mechanical and eletrical install in future sessions, as well as a Q&A with professionals in the industry.
