Last Wednesday we had a visit from BBC Radio Oxford to film and interview students with our school dog Maxi.

Maxi, who has just celebrated her 5th birthday has been nominated in the Animal Category for this years Make a Difference Awards for all the amazing work she does with pupils at Cheney school.

We were contacted by producer, Sophie, from the BBC Radio Oxford Daytime show who came in with co-producer Dan to interview and film students with Maxi. The piece will be played out on the Adam Ball daytime show (10am-2pm) in September, when the nominees are announced. The footage will be played on the awards night in September at the Kassam Stadium.

Maxi has been part of school life since she was just 3 months old -  her first day was Results Day in August 2019! She has a Canine Good Citizen Dog Scheme bronze award and spends much of her time in the SEND department and year 7 area. Maxi is much loved by all staff and students at Cheney.

Studies show companion animals can improve the well-being of children and lower anxiety by making the environment happier - thank you Maxi!
